NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships Information
Since they were first formally sponsored in 1974, the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships have been conducted annually. These championships are open to both individuals and teams.
Individual competitors in each of the ten weight classes take part in a tournament with two rounds of elimination at the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships. Wrestlers must place in the top three in each of the six regional tournaments to earn one of the eighteen available spots in their respective weight classes. During the championships, individual match winners receive points dependent on the level and quality of their victory. These points are added and used to calculate the final rankings for the team title.
The NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships not only select the winner of the national championship but also choose the members of the Division III All-America team. The eight athletes who place first through eighth in each weight class are awarded All-American honors for Division III.
