Myriam Raquel Hernández Navarro (May 2, 1967) is a well-known Chilean entertainer, singer, and composer. She was born in Santiago, Chile. Though she has included elements of electronic music and hip-hop into her repertoire, her primary musical focus has been on love ballads, earning her the moniker "La baladista de América" ("America's balladeer").
"El hombre que yo amo" was a song from her 1989 album Myriam Hernández that peaked at No. 10 on Billboard's Hot Latin Tracks; the album itself peaked at No. 4 on Billboard's Latin Pop Songs the same year, marking the beginning of her musical career in the late 1980s.
Her discography includes nine studio albums, two live albums, five compilation albums, two DVDs, and 39 singles. She has also collaborated with singers from the Ibero-American music industry, like Cristian Castro, Gilberto Santa Rosa, and Marco Antonio Solís, in duets.
She is among the best-selling Chilean musicians ever, with over 6 million recordings sold globally. Among her thirteen songs, two—"Peligroso Amor" and "Te pareces tanto an él"—peaked at the top on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs list, while her album Dos peaked at 2nd place on the Latin Pop Albums chart. "Ese hombre" and "Huele a Peligro" peaked at the top of the Latin Pop Songs list.
She joined the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2015 and got the Latin Recording Academy's President's Merit Award that year. Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award recipient in 2022, she made history as the country's first female recipient.
