Motul Petit Le Mans Information
The Petit Le Mans is a sports car endurance event held yearly at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia. It is mostly held to let extra vehicles race. It often follows the rules established by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which are adjusted slightly when necessary.
The first run was on October 10, 1998; Road Atlanta owner Don Panoz started the event during the IMSA season. This one was among the first races of the American Le Mans Series in 1999. The Intercontinental Le Mans Cup also included the 2010 and 2011 rounds. Nonetheless, the 2012 event for the newly formed World Endurance Championship was controversially moved to Bahrain. The race has become among the crown jewel events of the IMSA SportsCar Championship since 2014.
It is considered one of North America's three most prestigious sports car events, alongside Daytona 24 and Sebring 12, and one of the main endurance events worldwide. Rinaldo Capello has the most race victories, having won in 2000, 2006, 2007, and 2008.
