Mike Kinnebrew is the son of a Baptist preacher and a nurse, and he and his family moved about the southeast until he was fourteen, when they settled in Atlanta. During his turbulent adolescence, Kinnebrew turned to music as a source of calm and direction. The simplest way to characterize Kinnebrew's music is as Indie folk driven by the emotional motivation to go to fight with art. Kinnebrew is now forty-two years old and lives in Macon, Georgia, with his wife Linds and children Emma and Turner. He is still on his quest to connect with his audiences on a genuine level.
He respects the influence of music, as evidenced by his modesty and readiness to share his feelings openly. Kinnebrew's sense of family washes over the audience while he plays, leaving them feeling a little less alone at the end. He is introduced to the stage by his children, and his wife provides vocal harmonies.
Kinnebrew's debut album, Between the Living and the Dying, was produced by Andy Hunt and recorded at Nashville's legendary Smoakstack studio in 2010. (Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors, Third Day). Kinnebrew's second album, One Way to Find Out (Live at Eddie's Attic), was published in 2020. It was produced by Paul Moak and included the talents of the Smoakstack studio band.
