Maris the Great is a promotional performance artist who is based in Denver, Colorado. Maris promotes big-name bands on his website through various interviews, which often end with fictional murder of the featured band with graphic photos. Maris has interviewed numerous notable bands so far, including Throwdown, Comeback Kid, and Kittie.
Maris is known for his refusal to appear without makeup in public or break his character. He began working with Denver Bands in 2000 when he entered the promotion business to promote the local music scene. He published his website on June 1, 2000, and featured pop-rock band “Rubber Planet” as the first guest. He was referred to as “The Ozzfest Monster” during his two weeks at Ozzfest. In 2000, Maris began his “killing spree.” Thus far, he has "killed" over 100 national and local acts.
Maris, along with Dan Bray, has formed a band, and the group delivered its first performance at Sportsfield Roxx of Denver, where the members of Love 45 featured them. The band's current lineup includes Maris the Great, Dan Bray, Ethan Zachary, Michael California, and Chris Peterson. They released their debut studio recording in 2009 entitled “Fuck You if You Don’t Like Rock and Roll."
