Los Pericos Information
Los Pericos, formed in 1987, is an Argentinian band. The current lineup of the group consists of Diego Blanco, Juan Alfredo Baleirón, Gastón "Moreira" Gonçalves, Marcelo Blanco, Ariel Fernando Raiman, Horacio Avendaño, and Guillermo Luis Valentinis. It began with friends who used to get together to make music to form Los Pericos, Argentina's first reggae-rock band. El Ritual De La Banana, their first album, was published in 1988 and became the best-selling album of the year, selling 180 thousand copies and earning triple-platinum certification.
Los Pericos released Rab a Dab Stail, their third studio album, in 1990. They went on tour, performing several live concerts around Argentina, including two shows at the Luna Park Stadium in Buenos Aires.
Big Yuyo, their fourth album, was released in 1993. Los Pericos was also invited to perform at the sixth International Festival Reggae Sunsplash Edition, which takes place annually in Jamaica. They returned to the International Festival Reggae Sunsplash in 1994, closing out the World Beat Night. They were welcomed to the Tuff Gong Records studios by Rita Marley.
