Los Huracanes del Norte, founded in 1969 in California, is renowned for its Norteño style of traditional Mexican music, which features banjo and accordion. Asunción Rubalcava and the three brothers Francisco, Heraclio, and JesOs Garcia, born in the Mexican city of Tangancicuaro, formed the band.
Record labels noticed them when they recruited another Garcia brother, Guadalupe, whose song "Corrido de Daniel Treviño" became their first regional hit and propelled them to stardom. They released albums often (more than once a year), went on frequent tours, and made film appearances, contributing to their steady fan growth. Their meteoric rise to fame in Hispanic culture spanned decades.
They continued to have albums that reached the top ten on Latin charts through the 2010s. Their successes in their later years, with songs like "Como Le Hago" and "A Mi Modo," solidified their popularity. "Dibajo del Puente" and "Amarte Es Hermoso" reached number one on Billboard's Mexico Popular Airplay chart, and the band was almost celebrating their 50th anniversary as a unit.
