Lee Camp Information
Lee Camp is best known as a stand-up comedian and the host of the weekly comedy news show airing on RT America, Redacted Tonight with Lee Camp. He is also a writer, actor, and activist.
He was born in Washington, D.C., to Jewish parents, and by the age of 12. He had started writing comedy. They were humorous enough to warrant his high school literary magazine to publish them. When he joined the University of Virginia, Lee Camp won a competition to become a humor columnist for the learning institution’s newspaper called The Cavalier Daily.
In his four-years learning career at the university, Camp wrote a humor column for the newspaper each week. At the age of 19, he started performing stand-up comedy at open-mic nights, and with time they started paying him to take to the podium.
During his time at the university, he played openings for Tracy Morgan, Jimmy Fallon, Lewis Black, and Darrel Hammond when they had shows at the institution. During his final year, he self-published a humor book titled Neither Sophisticated Nor Intelligent. After his graduation, he moved to New York City.
His early years in New York, Camp performed three shows per night at the Ha! Comedy Club. Some of the greatest heights in his career in comedy include the time he performed at the 2008 Democratic National Convention featuring Pres. Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Al Gore.
He has released a short web series Moment of Clarity, which had more than 240 episodes. He is also a common feature in the Montreal Just for Laughs comedy festival.
