Lake Elsinore Storm Information
The San Diego Padres' Single-A affiliate in the California League, the Lake Elsinore Storm, plays Minor League Baseball. With 7,866 seats, Lake Elsinore Diamond (Pete Lehr Field) has been home to the Storm since it opened in 1994. This squad migrated three times, beginning with the Redwood Pioneers, continuing with the Palm Springs Angels, and lastly, the Lake Elsinore Storm.
It was the "high-A" affiliate of the Angels from the end of the 2000 season until it changed names to the Storm. Before that, it was the Palm Springs Angels. While playing with the Storm in 2011, Nate Freiman hit 22 home runs and 111 RBIs, all club records for a single season. After winning the California League South Division Finals on September 7, 2019, the Storm advanced to their sixth California League Championship Series with an 11-2 victory over the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.
They played the North Division winners, the Visalia Rawhide, and lost 3-1. As part of MLB's reorganization of the Minor League Baseball in 2021, the Storm were reclassified to the Low-A West. After being reclassified as a Single-A circuit in 2022, the Low-A West adopted the moniker of the California League, which the regional circuit had previously used before the 2021 reorganization.
