Juanes Information
Juan Esteban Aristizábal Vásquez is a Colombian musician, better known by his stage name, Juanes. He first gained fame as a member of the rock band Ekhymosis and is currently doing solo work. Juanes has amassed 26 Latin Grammy Awards and over 15 million record sales globally since his solo debut album, Fíjate Bien, was released in 2000.
Juanes formed his first band, Ekhymosis, in 1988 at seventeen. The group recorded eight albums and gained fame in Colombia, where they were born and raised.
A total of 26 Latin Grammys and 3 Grammys have gone to Juanes. At the BMI Latin Awards in 2010, he was presented with the President's Award. As a well-known humanitarian, Juanes is most recognized for his work with the non-governmental organization Fundacion Mi Sangre, which assists victims of anti-personnel mines in Colombia.
Juanes' autobiography, Chasing The Sun, was published in April 2013 and describes his experience via narratives and photos. Among Spanish-language musicians, he is among the best-selling.
Released on May 28, 2021, Origen was Juanes' tenth studio album. The CD comprises eleven cover songs by artists including Bob Marley, Bruce Springsteen, and Juan Luis Guerra. Juanes says these songs "impact on the memory of my youth, adolescence, childhood."
