John Craigie (June 15, 1980) is an American singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, California. His music is defined as folk, Americana, and bluegrass. Craigie has been traveling continuously for most of the past decade throughout Canada, the US, and Europe and has hailed as a "Modern-Day Troubadour" in the style of Ramblin' Jack Elliott and Woody Guthrie. His music, along with performance style, has been compared to Mitch Hedberg and John Prine with influences of Arlo Guthrie and Pete Seeger.
John Craigie has opened for and performed with Jack Johnson, James McMurtry, Shawn Colvin, Todd Snider, Paul Thorn, Sean Hayes, Nicki Bluhm, Aoife O'Donovan, the Avett Brothers, ALO, Shook Twins, and Trampled by Turtles. He also has sold-out shows in San Francisco, Denver, Portland, Seattle, NYC, Boston, and many more.
Craigie has received airplay on many radio stations such as KBCS, KRFC, WEXT Radio, WUMB, KPIG, KHUM, KGNU, WUIN, KFAI, and KVXQ. Some of the popular venues and festivals where he played are High Sierra Music Festival, Sisters Folk Festival, Kate Wolf Music Festival, Oregon Country Fair, and Burning Man. He is also well-known for his sense of humor, storytelling, and poignant songwriting. All of these were present in his appearance on Storytellers Telling Stories in 2019.
Craigie has released six studio albums, two cover albums, and two live albums. His notable studio albums are Montana Tale (2009), October is the Kindest Month (2011), The Apocalypse Is Over (2013), Working On My Farewell (2015), No Rain, No Rose (2017), Scarecrow (2018), and Asterisk The Universe (2020). Two of his live albums are "Capricorn in Retrograde...just kidding...Live in Portland" (2016) and "Opening for Steinbeck" (2018).
