The Jimmy V Classic is an annual basketball game organized by ESPN Events to raise money and awareness for cancer research. It is named after Jim Valvano and features clips from his speech at the 1993 ESPY Awards. The Men's Classic was first held in 1995. Since its inception, it has featured four teams in a doubleheader played in a neutral stadium.

The Women's Classic began in 2002, also featuring four teams in a doubleheader. 2005, the Women's Classic shrunk to two teams playing a single game. In 2021, the Women's Classic expanded back to the original format. In 2023, a triple-header, with six teams competing, was played. Unlike the Men's Classic, each game of the Women's Classic is played at one of the competitor's home arenas.

Three of the four participating teams in the event are slotted in ESPN's 'Way-Too-Early Top 25' rankings for the 2023-24 season, with Connecticut at No. 5 and Florida Atlantic at No. 9 in the Top 10 and North Carolina currently sitting at No. 15. The Fighting Illini, who played in the inaugural Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden in 2003, have participated in the last three NCAA Tournaments under coach Brad Underwood.

The Jimmy V Classic, named for legendary college basketball coach Jim Valvano, raises money and awareness for the V Foundation for Cancer Research annually.
