James Patrick Anthony Dore (July 26, 1965) is an American YouTube personality, political commentator, and comedian. Dore was born in Chicago, Illinois, in the southwest suburbs. He grew up in a working-class neighborhood. Dore began performing in front of an audience early in life due to his large family, and he utilized comedy to avoid beatings from his elder brothers. He went to Catholic schools for twelve years, which he found very strict, followed by three years at Illinois State University, where he dropped out and got a job as a forklift driver. Later, he earned a marketing communications degree from Columbia College Chicago.
Dore began performing stand-up comedy in Chicago in 1989 before relocating to Los Angeles in 1995. He has stated that he began his career after watching several late-night talk shows and believing that he could outperform them. George Carlin, Jerry Seinfeld, and Bill Hicks are stand-up comedians who influenced Dore.
Dore has been on late-night television shows like ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live!, CBS's The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, and NBC's Late Friday as a stand-up comedian. On April 9, 2004, he was the star of a Comedy Central Presents half-hour special. He was also a writer and actor for the off-Broadway production The Marijuana-Logues, which ran at New York City's Actor's Playhouse.
Dore has appeared at Harrah's on the Las Vegas Strip, the Tropicana Comedy Stop in Las Vegas, the Palms' Playboy Comedy Club, Catch a Rising Star in Reno, and the Tropicana Comedy Stop in Las Vegas.
