Jiaoying Summers (January 18, 1990) is an American stand-up comedian, actor, director, and charity worker born in Henan Province, China. She rose to fame thanks to her TikTok videos, in which she advocated for more Asian representation and spoke out against bigotry against Asians. For the construction firm that her family owns and runs, Summers was the president of new business development in 2013. While in Los Angeles, she also had an internship at the IMAX Corporation. Summers was crowned Miss China in the 2014 "Queen of the Universe" international beauty pageant. It was in 2016 when she made her casting debut.
Summers Media is an international production firm that Summers co-founded and still serves as CEO of. Executive producer John Singleton advised that Summers attempt comedy after overhearing her make jokes during her audition for the police drama series Rebel. After hearing his recommendation, she made her 2019 open mic debut that year. With over 1.2 million followers and over 1 billion views, she has come a long way since she started posting on TikTok in 2020.
Summers' frequent venues include Carolines NYC, The Comedy Store, and The Laugh Factory. In 2022, she was a headliner at the New York Comedy Festival, and on November 9, 2023, she headlined the Apollo Theater. The Women in Comedy performance at the Netflix Is A Joke festival also included her. Summers hosted a stand-up comedy show on NBC Peacock in 2022 as part of the Comedy InvAsian series. Two comedy clubs in Los Angeles, The Hollywood Comedy and The Pasadena Comedy, are owned by Summers.
