Jerrod Niemann Information
Jerrod Lee Niemann (July 24, 1979) is an American country music singer and songwriter born in Harper, Kansas, and raised in Liberal, Kansas. Country acts have influenced him since his childhood. Some of his favorite acts included George Strait, Keith Whitley, and Lefty Frizzell. Niemann learned his first instrument on an autographed guitar by Tracy Lawrence, which his mother won it during a contest for the artist. Niemann completed his graduation from Liberal High School and attended South Plains College in Levelland, Texas.
Niemann began his professional music career through playing acoustic guitar and singing in Texas bars and clubs. He often performed in the Stockyard Saloon and the historic White Elephant Saloon in the Fort Worth Stockyards. Niemann self-released his debut album entitled “Long Hard Road” in 1999.
In September 2000, Niemann moved to Nashville, Tennessee and signed a development deal with Mercury Records a year later. However, Niemann did not release anything on the label. He later signed a record deal with Category 5 Records in 2006. The album charted with the help of a single named “I Love Women (My Momma Can’t Stand).”
Niemann has worked with other notable record labels such as Sea Gayle Music/Arista Nashville Records and Curb Records. He has released several hit studio albums thus far in his career, including Jukebox of Hard Knocks (2004), Judge Jerrod & the Hung Jury (2010), Free the Music (2012), Yellow Brick Road (2013), High Noon (2014), and This Ride (2017).
