Jennifer Ashton Information
Jennifer Ashton is a television correspondent, author, and physician from George Air Force Base, California. She went to Horace Mann School in Riverdale, New York City, and studied English and French. Ashton graduated in 1991 from Columbia College, Columbia University. In 2000, she received a medical degree from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. In 2016, Ashton got her master's degree in nutrition from Columbia University. Ashton completed her residency at St. Luke's–Roosevelt Hospital Center and practiced as an attending physician at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center.
Ashton is the author of many magazine articles and contributes to a health blog for The Record of Bergen, New Jersey. The "Body Scoop for Girls," "Your Body Beautiful, and Eat This When You're Expecting," "Not That" are the three books written by Ashton. In 2006, she launched her television career by contributing to the Fox News Channel as the first female medical contributor. Ashton also appeared on Oprah & Friends XM radio's The Dr. Oz Show and The Learning Channel's A Baby Story on PBS.
In 2009, Ashton joined CBS News as a medical correspondent and contributed regular appearances on The CBS Evening News with Katie Couric and The Early Show. She co-hosted the short-lived ABC television series named The Revolution and made regular appearances on ABC World News Tonight and Good Morning America in 2012.
Woman of Achievement by the Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey recognized Ashton in 2007. She also received the Hope for The Future Award in 2008 from the Octoberwoman Foundation for Breast Cancer Awareness.
