Jay Perez (September 23, 1963) is an American Tejano musician born in San Antonio, Texas. His mother, Janie Narranjo, was responsible for his upbringing. He started attending John Jay High School but left in his junior year to start working and supporting his brother and sister.
After starting as a drummer for Mysterio Band alongside Albert Castaneda, he eventually transitioned into a leading singing role for Latin Breed and David Lee Garza y los Musicales. In the early 1990s, Perez launched a solo career and has since released several albums. In addition to that, he is the recipient of multiple Tejano Music Awards. "The Voice" and "El Hijo De San Antonio" are both nicknames given to him by his devoted following.
