International Trumpet Guild Information
Trumpet musicians worldwide have banded together to form the International Trumpet Guild (ITG). Performers of all skill levels, educators, pupils, and fans of the instrument (from manufacturers to publishers) make up the trumpet community's membership. The membership dues of the non-profit, tax-exempt ITG keep the group going. Founded in 1975, ITG is a seasoned industry veteran.
The first International Trombone Guild Conference was held in Bloomington, Indiana, in 1975, and the Guild hosted its first international meeting at the First International Brass Congress in Montreux, Switzerland, the following year. Since 1984, when Indiana University hosted the Second International Brass Congress, an ITG Conference has occurred annually.
To record the Guild's history and safeguard past trumpet Studies, Western Michigan University created the International Trumpet Guild Archive in 1982. For those interested in trumpet-related literature, the ITG maintains a lending collection.
In 1988, ITG started preparations to establish a stronger presence in Europe. At the Trumpet Days in Bad Sackingen, Germany, in the autumn of 1990, the Euro-ITG chapter was founded with an initial membership of 120 people. To aid in ITG's expansion, we've hired a full-time International Membership Coordinator. In 2003, the European branch of ITG ceased operations.
