IMSA Sportscar Weekend Information
Road America Raceway hosts a complete slate of IMSA Sportscar races for the IMSA Sportscar Weekend. Races for the IMSA Porsche Carrera Cup North America, the IMSA Lamborghini Super Trofeo, and the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge will occur.
Grand tourers and touring sports cars compete in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge. A mandatory driver swap occurs two and a half hours into the four-hour race. There are two classes in the competition; those competing in the Grand Sport category use engines with six cylinders or more and a bigger displacement, as well as four-cylinder engines that benefit from forced induction. Cars in the Street Tuner category are four-cylinder vehicles, such as sedans, hatchbacks, coupes, and convertibles.
Combining the American Le Mans Series and the Rolex Sports Car Series resulted in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The WeatherTech SportsCar Series features five categories of cars: three sports prototypes and two grand touring divisions.
Only Porsches are allowed to compete in the Porsche Carrera Cup. The Lamborghini Super Trofeo is similar; drivers compete in three distinct classes using Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo vehicles.
