Shane Niemi (August 2, 1995) is an American singer and songwriter. He was born in Los Angeles, California. His stage name, iamnotshane, professionally knows him. His music video for his song "Insecure" from 2016 became viral, including a rendition of Michael Jackson's anti-gravity lean. The video has been viewed more than 5 million times. He is known for his flamboyant dance style. Since the age of eight, he has been performing, and at twelve, he started writing his songs. 2014 saw the release of his debut music video for the song "Sinister." One year later, he issued his debut extended play, titled Sad.
His music video for the song "Insecure" became extremely popular in 2016, and as of 2022, it has received 6.5 million views on YouTube. After some time, he decided to change his stage name to iamnotshane, and in 2020, he released an EP with the same name through the labels Avant Garden and Island Records. Michael Calfan, a French DJ and producer, worked on a new version of "Afterlife" in 2020.
Late in the year 2020, he parted ways with both Avant Garden and Island Records for reasons that are currently unknown, and he started independently releasing singles around the same time. In his interview in 2021 with the fashion magazine Vanity Teen, he discussed his background as an artist and the artists who currently affect him.
