High School Musical Information
The American television series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is a mockumentary musical drama developed by Tim Federle for Disney+ and based on the popular High School Musical film franchise. The series was created in conjunction with Disney Channel, Chorus Boy, and Salty Pictures. After Oliver Goldstick ran the show for the first four episodes, Federle took over for the rest of the first season and beyond.
The first season follows a group of theater-loving teenagers who put on High School Musical: The Musical as their school plays in a fictionalized version of East High School. In this school, the original movies were shot. Season every season, the show highlights a new musical while delving further into the characters' struggles with friendship, romance, passions, self-discovery, and familial ties.
A few of the actors who have been on the show were/are Olivia Rodrigo, Joshua Bassett, Matt Cornett, Sofia Wylie, Larry Saperstein, Julia Lester, Dara Reneé, Frankie Rodriguez, Mark St. Cyr, Kate Reinders, Joe Serafini, Saylor Bell Curda, and Adrian Lyles. Several of the original film's cast members appear as satirical versions of themselves.
The first season of High School Musical: The Series, which consists of 10 episodes, premiered on Disney Channel, ABC, and Freeform simultaneously on November 8, 2019 in anticipation of its premiere on Disney+ on November 12.
