Hempress Sativa Information
Hempress Shushana Johnson (July 15, 1984) is a Jamaican Contemporary reggae singer and songwriter. He was born in Papine, Jamaica. Songs like "Jah Have Mi Back," "Children of the Emperor," "Get High," "Top Rank Queens," and "Marching Outta Babylon" were all released in 2013 by Sativa as part of the Jah Ova Evil Movement. The Movement was formed after the death of reggae artist Alty 'Lil Joe' Nunes in 2011 to honor his memory and continue his music. Artists like Chronixx, The Gideon & Selah, Kazam, and Infinite were involved.
Sativa also dropped a song called "Ooh LaLaLa (The Weed Thing)" that pays homage to cannabis and its curative effects. Lauryn Hill, the Fugees, and their international smash hit "Fu-Gee-La" is also acknowledged in the song. She was featured on the 2015 albums "Inna Jamaica, Pt.2" by Mellow Mood, "Dread At The Control" by Micah Shemaiah, and "Boom (Wah Da Da Deng)" by Paolo Baldini Dubfiles. Sativa, Protoje, Koro Fyah, and Pressure contributed vocals to Kabaka Pyramid's "All For One" in 2016.
Walshy Fire, an electronic dance music group Major Lazer member, produced the track on their "Accurate Mixtape." "Unconquerebel" was Sativa's first studio album, published in 2017. This album, which features previously released songs including "Rock It Ina Dance," "Boom," "Fight For Your Rights," and "Twisted Sheets," debuted at No. 1 on the Global Reggae Charts. She has also shared "No Retreat," a tune that features Junior Murvin's singing.
