Greensboro Grasshoppers Information
The Greensboro Grasshoppers play in the North Carolina Minor League Baseball season. As the Pittsburgh Pirates' High-A affiliate, they play in the South Atlantic League. Their home field, First National Bank Field, has been around since 2005 and can accommodate 7,499 spectators. Before the first season at the new stadium, the team's emblem was altered to a grasshopper.
For the team's enormous grasshopper mascot, the fans chose the name " Guilford " to honor Greensboro's county. Before then, Greensboro's World War Memorial Stadium—just northeast of downtown—was the site of every home game for the Hornets and Bats. With a final record of 74-46, they were the runners-up in the Southern Division in 2021.
They finished second in the league in records; even though they didn't win their division, they still made the playoffs. The Bowling Green Hot Rods prevailed in the best-of-five final series, scoring 3-2. Following its reformation in 2021, the High-A East changed its name to the South Atlantic League in 2022. This was the circuit's previous moniker.
Temerity Baseball acquired the club on January 4, 2022. In addition to the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers, Temerity Baseball owns them. According to team owner Andy Sandler, a mixed-use and multi-family development is planned to surround the stadium.
