Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad is a reggae and jam band that is based in Rochester, New York, founded in 2004. The current lineup of the group is Chris O’Brian, Dylan Savage, James Searl, Tony Gallicchio, and Eli Flynn. The band has worked with different record labels, including Rootfire Cooperation, Easy Star Records, Controlled Substance, and Bomb Squad. Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad was formed by childhood friends James Searl, Chris O’Brien, and Matt O’Brien; they later teamed up with Rochester guitar player Dylan Savage.
After forming the band, the four of them began playing shows in Ithaca, New York. In 2006, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad released their debut album entitled “Slow Down.” The album received regular airplay on Sirius and XM Radio. Slow Down was recorded at Pyramid Sound Studios in Ithaca, New York, and produced by the band along with Alex Perialas.
Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad played at Mountain Jam (festival) of Warren Hayne at Hunter Mountain ski Resort on May 30, 2008. The band has released a live recording album named Live Up!!, that featured 11 live recordings from the Southeast USA tour of the group. Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad has joined forces with several artists on stage as well as in the studio; the album entitled “Bright Days” featured G-Love on Harmonic. The group has released a few notable studio albums so far, including Country (2012), In These Times (2012), Steady (2014), and Make It Better (2016).
