Filipino Hitmakers Information
For the first time, Filipino music icons Rico J. Puno, Marco Sison, Rey Valera, and Hajji Alejandro will be taking the stage as part of the concert series "OPM The Hitmakers." Starmedia Entertainment is responsible for producing the concert.
The Filipino music scene owes a great deal to Rico J. Puno. He broke new ground by adapting Tagalog language lyrics to American musical hits. He has had a lot of success with a cover of Gladys Knight and the Pips' "Try to Remember" and "The Way We Were." His live performances are incredible, as he adds wit and humor to his passionate singing. His distinctive sound was instrumental in shaping modern Filipino music.
Balladeer Marco Sison, known for his beautiful looks and popularity, shot to fame after winning a weekly singing competition called Student Canteen a record 14 times. The songs "I'll Face Tomorrow," "Make Believe," and "Always" are all huge hits for him.
Ray Valera is a well-known performer, composer, music director, and TV personality. Sharon Cuneta is only one of several artists to record one of his tracks. In the 1970s, Hajji Alejandro was at the height of his fame as a singer and an actor. He first gained prominence as a singer with the Circus Band, which he led to victory at the inaugural Metro Manila Popular Music Festival.
