Eyedress Information
Idris Vicua (born May 28, 1990) is a Filipino singer, rapper, record producer, and composer who goes by the stage name Eyedress. Eyedress was up in a "ghetto" neighborhood in the Philippines, where he began playing the guitar early. He and his family relocated to Phoenix, Arizona, where he was exposed to punk music through his neighborhood's "gangsters" and "anarchist types." After his father, an animator, started working for 20th Century Fox, he and his family relocated to California when he was 13 years old. He joined the punk band Liberal Underground as a bassist while residing in Orange County, California.
Eyedress was connected to Filipino singer Skint Eastwood through a promoter in Manila after establishing a modest following from creating beats, and the two collaborated on the song "Biolumine." A French company noticed the song and encouraged him to create an album, which led to a record deal with Abeano Records, a subsidiary of XL Recordings. He published his debut extended play, Supernatural, on December 2, 2013, which he recorded in his bedroom using FL Studio.
On April 11, 2014, Eyedress released his debut mixtape, Hearing Colors, as a free digital download. He published his second EP, Egyptian Night Club, via SoundCloud on July 27, 2014, after being forced to postpone European tour dates owing to visa issues. In 2015, he released his debut album, Shapeshifter. On May 12, 2017, he published the follow-up, Manila Ice. Sensitive G, his third album, was released on November 16, 2018, via Lex Records, and in late 2018, he went on his first headlining North American tour.
