Eilen Jewell Information
Eilen Jewell (April 6, 1979) is an American singer and songwriter. She was born in Boise, Idaho. Jewell attended college in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She lived in Boston for many years and returned to Boise in 2015. She began her musical career by busking on the streets of Santa Fe. She was studying in college at the time. After that, she moved to Los Angeles, where she kept performing on the streets of Venice Beach. Jewell then moved to Massachusetts to start performing at local music clubs.
Jewell recorded a “live demo” album entitled, Nowhere in Time, in December 2005. She later recorded the album Boundry County, Jason Beek on percussion, Johnny Sciascia on upright bass, Jerry Glenn Miller on guitars, and Daniel Kellar on violin. She recorded her album, Sinners & Strangers, at the Signature Sounds studio in Pomfret, Connecticut. She released the album Sea of Tears in early 2009. The album was called by Sydney Morning Herald a “startling departure.”
Jewell released another album, Butcher Holler, in 2010. Along with her band, she toured the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Europe. The tour began in 2005, including performances at South by Southwest and NPR’s World Café.
