Donald Andrew McClurkin Jr. (November 9, 1959) is an American gospel singer and minister born in Copiague, New York. He signed with Warner Alliance in 1996 for his self-titled LP, which featured producers Bill Maxwell, Mark Kibble of Take 6, Cedric and Victor Caldwell, and Andraé Crouch, all because of a friendship with a Warner Alliance official. The album, including the hit single "Stand," went platinum shortly after Oprah Winfrey publicly praised it.
He was honored at the 48th Annual Grammy Awards for his "Psalms, Hymns & Spiritual Songs" album in the Traditional Soul Gospel Album category. McClurkin's "Stand" and "We Fall" were gospel and urban radio staples that helped propel him to stardom. He has topped the Billboard charts with three solo albums.
His 2009 cable TV series, Perfecting Your Faith, was also hosted by him. Among his many television appearances are Good Morning America, The View, Girlfriends, The Parkers, and CBS's The Early Show. Several films have featured him, including The Fighting Temptations and The Gospel. He was convincing as either a lone man or a pastor.
