Diamond Rio Information
Diamond Rio is an American country music band, originally called the Grizzly River Boys, later the Tennessee River Boys; the band was started in 1982 as an attraction for the Opryland amusement park in Nashville, Tennessee. Matt Davenport, Danny Gregg, and Ty Herndon launched it; the last turned solo artists in the middle of the 1990s. The band, which changed to Diamond Rio, was signed to Arista Nashville and made history as the first band ever to release a debut song at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts.
Their self-titled debut was highly praised and inspired many best-selling albums, including Love a Little Stronger from 1994. After several prizes, including the CMA Vocal Group of the Year, the band was invited into the Grand Ole Opry in 1998. Their consistent climb to popularity resulted in former member Ty Herdon starting a solo career.
Released in 2000, their album One More Day demonstrated the group's capacity to connect with its listeners with their smash single of the same name. Mid-2023 saw Schweinsberg and McKee formally join the band; McKee is the first female member. Soon after they were added to the roster, an instrumental named "The Kick" debuted as the first single.
