Dan Mangan Information
Daniel Mangan or Dan Mangan (April 28, 1983) is a Canadian musician who is from Smithers, British Columbia, and currently based in Vancouver. He is well-known for his contribution as a writer for The Guardian’s Arts section, Huffington Post Canada, and Montecristo Magazine. Mangan completed his first set of recordings when he was 20 years old, in 2003. The recording was an EP in which he simply recorded acoustic songs entitled “All At Once.” He pressed 500 copies and sold or handed them out throughout Vancouver. In summer 2005, Mangan recorded another album entitled “Postcards & Daydreaming” with one of his good friends Simon Kelly and producer Daniel Elmes.
Mangan has worked with a few record labels throughout his career, such as Arts & Crafts, City Slang, Create/Control, File Under Music, and Caroline. In 2009, he released another extended play entitled “Roboteering.” The EP included songs from Mangan’s forthcoming album entitled “Nice, Nice, Very Nice.” He recorded the album at Green Door Studios in Toronto. Mangan also featured other Canadian artists in this album, such as Hannah Georgas, Mark Berube, Justin Rutledge, and Veda Hille.
Mangan was awarded the Verge Music Award, “Artist of the Year.” He has appeared with the artist Astral Swans in a few of his releases. His notable EPs include Radicals (2012) and Unmake (2016). He also released a few more albums, including Oh Fortune (2011), Club Meds (2015), and More or Less (2018).
