CyPhaCon Information
CyPhaCon was founded by a group of local geeks who wanted to create a genre-friendly convention for all fans while donating funds for good causes. Planning for CyPhaCon's first formal event in April 2011 began in August 2010. This group of passionate fans, many of whom had previously attended a conference, went on a fast-paced blitz to promote CyPhaCon to the general public. In barely nine months, on April 16, 2011, CyPhaCon officially launched with a gathering of approximately 500 attendees for its first event.
They gradually realized their community was yearning for more after their first successful event. CyPhaCon hosted a three-day event in 2012 with three media guests for the first time. Their attendance increased once more, and they realized they were expanding quicker than anticipated. Their board of directors reincorporated from nonprofit to the new firm known as CYPHA LLC in late 2013.
As 2014 came to a close, they celebrated their 5th Anniversary on April 17-19, 2015, with a record turnout of over 1500 people in attendance. To commemorate their fifth year, they expanded their show to span all three major levels of the Lake Charles Civic Center and the Rosa Hart Theater.
