Cultura Profetica Information
Cultura Profetica is a reggae-oriented Puerto Rican band that was established in 1996. The band's initial members were Eliut Gonzalez, a guitarist, and Omar Silva, a bass player; Willy Rodriguez sang vocals, bass, and guitar. While some other members have come and left, those three have remained constants throughout the band's lifetime.
Though they are a reggae band, their songs feature salsa, tango, bossa nova, and jazz elements in addition to their style. Success for the band started in Puerto Rico, and in 1996, they released their debut album, Cancion de Alerta. Soon after, Ideas Nuevas came out. On the Billboard Hot Latin Albums list, their album M.O.T.A. peaked at No. 12.
Among their most well-known tunes are the love single "La complicidad" and, more recently, "Le Da Igual" and "Musica Sin Tiempo." The band has been commended for using such unusual tempos and is glad to include various sounds in their songs. The band also emphasizes issues of love and the influence music has over individuals, love, and communities.
