Choque de Gigantes Information
The Choque de Gigantes is an international club baseball event slated for November 8-10, 2024, at LoanDepot Park in Miami. Six teams from three Caribbean winter leagues—Venezuela (3), Puerto Rico (2), and the Dominican Republic (1)—will compete in the competition. Thanks to its sizable Latin American population, Miami has hosted three Caribbean Series events.
The most recent event, which took place in LoanDepot Park in 2024 under Big League Baseball's Miami Marlins sponsorship, was considered a big success. The Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation (CPBC) declared that the Caribbean Series will return to Miami in 2028.
First mentioning the prospect of another club tournament in Miami on February 6, 2024, Chema Sanchez, the Marlins' business development director, proposed that two Venezuelan clubs, Leones del Caracas and Navegantes del Magallanes, might play a series at LoanDepot Park. This was verified on July 17, 2024, when officials from the three competing leagues and the Marlins announced the "Choose de Gigantes" competition.
