Chicago Wolves Information
The Chicago Wolves are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League. They are currently the only independent team in the league. The Chicago Wolves are owned by Chicago businessmen Don Levin and Buddy Meyers. The team plays their home games at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, a Chicago suburb.
The Wolves moved to the American Hockey League (AHL) in 2001 from the International Hockey League (IHL). The Vegas Golden Knights, an expansion franchise in the National Hockey League, became the first affiliate of the Minnesota Wolves following the 2016–17 season.
For the 2017–18 season, the Blues' principal NHL affiliate, the Wolves, did not re-sign with the team. However, general manager Doug Armstrong of the Blues stated that the Wolves would still get Blues prospects that year.
The Wolves reached the Calder Cup Finals in 2018–19. However, they were defeated in five games by the Charlotte Checkers. During the 2019–20 season, the Golden Knights hinted that they would be interested in purchasing and running their own Las Vegas area AHL club in 2020–21, but it wouldn't be the Wolves.
Due to arena limitations for fans during the pandemic, the clubs' 2020-21 season home games were played at their training facility, the Triphahn Center in Hoffman Estates.
