The Irish group Celtic Woman consists entirely of women musicians. After being featured on PBS several times, the group decided to take their show on the road after forming in 2004 for a one-off performance in Dublin, Ireland. Since their 2004 self-titled debut, Celtic Woman has produced over twenty more studio albums. They've racked up over nine million album sales globally. Vocalists and a fiddler have been staples in the group's lineup, but they have come and gone over the years.
It was decided that Chlo Agnew would replace McMahon for the majority of the US Celebration tour, with Susan McFadden filling in for the remaining dates. As one critic put it, Celtic Woman is "Riverdance for the voice." Celtic Woman is a six-time winner of Billboard's World Album Artist of the Year.
Originally consisting of Chlo Agnew, Orla Fallon, Lisa Kelly, Méav N Mhaolchatha, and Máiréad Nesbitt, as of July 2023, the band has expanded to include Mairéad Carlin, Tara McNeill, Muirgen O'Mahony, and Emma Warren. The A Christmas Symphony tour, which took place from December 2, 2022, to December 22, 2022, was announced on June 30, 2022. It was revealed on January 22, 2020, that Éabha McMahon would be taking time away from the band to focus on personal endeavors.
