Caetano Veloso Information
Caetano Emanuel Viana Teles Veloso is a Brazilian musician, singer, guitarist, writer, and political fighter. Tropicalismo was a musical, theatrical, and poetic movement in Brazil that Veloso became famous for in the 1960s, just before the military dictatorship gained control in 1964.
José Telles Veloso, better known as Seu Zeca, was a government official, and his wife, Claudionor Viana Telles Veloso, better known as Dona Canô, had seven children. Veloso was one of them. Although he was born in Santo Amaro da Purificação, Bahia, a city in Brazil's eastern region, he relocated to Salvador, the capital of Bahia state, for his undergraduate years in the mid-1960s.
With 2017's victor, Salvador Sobral, Veloso took the stage in Lisbon, Portugal, in May 2018 for the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final. His sons Moreno, Zeca, and Tom contributed to his live album Ofertório (Ao Vivo), named the 25th greatest Brazilian album of 2018 by the Brazilian version of Rolling Stone magazine.
As of 2018, Veloso had two songs—"La nebbia a Napoli" and "Michelangelo Antonioni"—on the album "Que Bom" by Stefano Bollani. Among Rolling Stone's 200 Greatest Singers of All Time, Veloso was rated 108th in 2023.
