Broadway’s Next Hit Musical is an improv musical comedy award show, and the only unscripted theatrical awards show called “Hilarious!” by The New York Times. According to Time Out NY, Broadway’s Next Hit Musical is a “musical of, for, and by the people.” The audience nominates songs in Act One, and the cast creates improvised musicals. The public then votes which one takes the shiny statuette home. In Act Two, the winning musical selected by the public is performed in its entirety.
Broadway’s Next Hit Musical features master improvisers, including Rob Schiffmann, Robert Z Grant, Debbie Rabbai, Becca McLarty, Annie Schiffmann, Rachel Bouton, Megan Reilly, and Daniel Tepper. Greg Triggs hosts the show, and the show pianists are Gary Adler, Eric March, and Andrew Resnick. The award show puts the spotlight on master improvisers to create a spontaneous evening of music, laughter, and humor.
