Boy and Bear Information
Boy & Bear is an Australian indie folk band. The group's current lineup consists of Dave Symes, Jon Hart, Tim Hart, Killian Gavin, and Dave Hosking. Sydney, Australia's Boy & Bear began as a solo venture for singer/songwriter Dave Hosking in 2009. Hosking's "The Storm" was broadcast on Australian radio station Triple J's Unearthed show in February 2009.
Hosking jammed with an Ovell musician named Killian Gavin, a singer-songwriter and guitarist. Tim Hart, formerly of the college band Wintersound, is now playing drums and singing lead vocals for the group. The band first shared studio photos from making their fourth album in July 2018. In April 2020, Boy & Bear announced that they would release an acoustic album titled At Golden Retriever Studios in the fall of that year.
Boy & Bear released their first single since 2019 on April 8, 2022. "State of Flight" was also their first song to be published independently. The band went on a massive national and regional tour in June and July of 2022 to celebrate the album's 10th anniversary. Boy & Bear's "Just to Be Kind" was released on September 23, 2022. The group dropped "Apex" in March 2023 and announced their fifth studio album's May 26, 2023 release.
