Boombox Cartel is a DJ act based in Los Angeles that consists of Americo Garcia (July 20, 1991) of Laredo, Texas, and his writing partner Jorge Medina of Monterrey, Mexico. The act includes bass, hybrid trap, and dubstep genres. The two members met while in high school in Monterrey, Mexico, and later relocated to St. Paul, Minnesota, to study music production and audio engineering. Americo Garcia and writing partner Jorge Medina moved to Los Angeles, California, to pursue their musical career.
Boombox Cartel self-released their breakout track entitled “B2U” featuring Ian Everson in 2015. This track faced success and immediately garnered the attention of notable artists like Diplo, Skrillex, and Martin Garrix. The duo signed with Diplo’s label Mad Decent in 2016 and kept developing their production and sonic progression.
