Ballet West Information
The Salt Lake City, Utah-based Ballet West is a prestigious American ballet group. Willam F. Christensen and Glenn Walker Wallace established the 1963 Utah Civic Ballet company. Christensen was the inaugural creative director, while Wallace was the first president. 1951 Christensen made history at the University of Utah by establishing the country's first ballet department.
Salt Lake City was the site of Ballet West's 1963 founding. The company was co-founded by Willam F. Christensen and Utah's "First Lady of the Arts," Glenn Walker Wallace, who was also the first creative director. The Federation of Rocky Mountain States chose the corporation in 1968 to represent the western United States, which meant it could also represent the group.
The decision led to the group's rebranding as Ballet West. The Ballet West in Taynuilt, Scotland, is completely different. The company's official training takes place at the Salt Lake City-based Ballet West Academy. The CW Network's Breaking Pointe, a reality show produced by the BBC and starring Ballet West, in the summers of 2012 and 2013.
