Auto Cross Information
In Autocross, a type of racing, drivers race against the clock to finish a short course on dirt or grass, except in the United States, where sealed surfaces are utilized. Some examples of rules that differ from one governing or sanctioning body to another include the course length, the number of allowed attempts, and whether or not competitors begin the course at the same time or at regular intervals.
The sport of Autocross originated in the United Kingdom in the early 1950s, when groups of racers used farmer's fields as their starting points. In 1954, the inaugural British autocross series was staged by Taunton MC. But this didn't happen again until 1959 when the club got permission to host the British National Autocross. The ASWMC Autocross Championship didn't take long to take off after that; the sport had already become popular by 1963.
The courses used for the tournament range from 800 to 1,400 meters and are located on unsealed surfaces in nature. At most, ten cars can be on the circuit in an autocross race, culminating with a final after two semi-finals. The championship takes place all year long in different venues. In 2022, for instance, venues such as Seelow, Vilkyciai, Nová Paka, Saint-Georges-de-Montaigu, Prerov, Saint-Igny de Vers, Maggiora, and Mollerussa hosted the events.
