Atlas Genius Information
Atlas Genius is an Australian alternative rock band. The current lineup consists of Dave Green (guitar), Steven Jeffery (synth and keys), Michael Jeffery (drums), and Keith Jeffery (guitar and lead vocals). The group initially got together in Adelaide, South Australia, in November 2009. On May 4, 2011, they dropped their first single to the public, titled "Trojans." All four of the band members contributed to its writing. They submitted the song to the Unearthed online competition hosted by Australian radio station Triple J. Andrew Hwang of Neon Gold wrote the first positive review of "Trojans" in the United States in June.
On MTV2's broadcast 120 Minutes on January 13, 2012, an acoustic rendition of "Trojans" debuted in the United States. Mike shot it, and all of the singing and guitar playing is done by Keith. The record has been praised for its "slick" production, "strong summer jam," "melancholy reflection," and "finger-snapping funk," among other qualities. At its height in early 2013, it was the number four most popular alternative song on the Billboard Hot 100. The song peaked at number seventeen on the Rock Songs chart and fifteen on the Heatseekers chart.
Through the Glass, a three-song EP by the band was released by Warner Bros. Records on June 12, 2012. At that point, Steven had already left. Thus, the band consisted of Keith, Michael Jeffery, and Sell. They also included a music video for another tune from the EP titled "Symptoms," directed by Claire Marie Vogel and recognized as a Vimeo staff pick.
