Admiral T Information
Admiral T was one of two children born in 1981 on the French island of Guadeloupe. Dominica, a small island not far away, is where his family originated. His debut album, Mozak Kréyl, was released in 1992 after he quit the dancehall group Karukera Sound System, which he had joined at age 6. In 2004, at a preview performance for Sean Paul at Bercy Stadium, Admiral T outshone himself and became a major attraction.
After hearing Admiral T perform, representatives from Universal Music Group signed him and reissued his record on Universal Records with guest appearances by Wyclef Jean and the French rapper Rohff. The record by Admiral T was a huge success in the West Indies, France, and Europe. Admiral T featured in the 2005 Guadeloupean film Nèg Maron, directed by Jean-Claude Barny.
He received a Césaire of Music Award in October 2006 for his second album, Toucher L'Horizon, which was published the year after. On his "Fs A Péyi La" Tour (named after the title song he recorded with Kassav'), Admiral T spent much of 2007 performing in France, London, and the Caribbean. Additionally, in December 2007, Admiral T took home a Skyrock Music Award; in February 2008, he took home a Virgin Music Award.
