Terry Barber is an American countertenor. In addition, he is well-known for founding the charity group Artists for a Cause. This includes the Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall, and Avery Fisher Hall in New York City; the Svetlanov Hall in Moscow; and Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, among others.
Since Barber is fluent in several tongues, he has been invited to sing at a Library of Congress tribute to Mikhail Lermontov. Barber has collaborated with numerous composers, arrangers, and producers in the music industry. He has collaborated on albums with Grammy winners like Chaka Khan, Madonna, and Cyndi Lauper.
Barber has collaborated with numerous notable conductors throughout his career, including Armiliato, Leonhardt, Rousset, Parrot, Norrington, Kramer, Llewellyn, Bicket, and Tilson Thomas. Around the World in 80 Minutes, Christmas Presence, The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, Classical for Everyone, Songs She Loved, and Songs She Loved 2.0 are just a few of the albums that Barber has released.
Barber established the foundation Artists for a Cause in 2009 to advance the careers of visual and performing artists wherever their work is applied to social good. Barber helps needy students by providing scholarship opportunities and community service through Artists for a Cause.
