Ride the Cyclone Information
The Musical Ride The Cyclone was written, composed, and directed by Jacob Richmond and Brooke Maxwell. This is the second part in Richmond's "Uranium Teen Scream Trilogy," a set of three-stage productions in the inflated Uranium City. The third part still needs to be rewritten. The Cyclone, a malfunctioning roller coaster in Uranium City, Saskatchewan, killed several members of the chamber choir of St. Cassian High School. Each one narrates a narrative to a mechanical fortune teller to win the chance to be born again.
Atomic Vaudeville in 2008, the world premiered in Victoria, British Columbia. In 2011, a production took place at Toronto's Theatre Passe Muraille, and in 2013, it toured Western Canada. Chicago Shakespeare Theater was the site of the American premiere. The limited engagement ran from September 29th, 2015, to November 8th, under the direction of Rachel Rockwell.
Performing at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre in 2018, the identical show returned. They were directed by Leora Morris and starring most of the original cast and creative team, a performance based on the vision of Rachel Rockwell debuted at Atlanta's Alliance Theatre in 2019. This followed Rockwell's untimely passing. Beginning in 2023, the play debuted in Anaheim, California, at the Chance Theater.
