Noah Feldman Information
Noah Raam Feldman (May 22, 1970) is an American academic and legal scholar. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts. Feldman was raised in an Orthodox Jewish household in Cambridge, Massachusetts. At Harvard, Feldman focused on the languages and cultures of the Near East. As a junior in high school in 1990, he was awarded the Harry S. Truman Scholarship for the state of Massachusetts. Feldman earned an A.B. and was named valedictorian.
After graduating from law school in 1997, Feldman worked as a law clerk for Chief Judge Harry T. Edwards of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and then for Justice David Souter of the United States Supreme Court in 1998 and 1999. Feldman joined the NYU Law School faculty in 2001, rising to full professor in 2005, and Cecilia Goetz Professor of Law in 2006.
In 2019, Feldman took over hosting duties for the Pushkin Industries podcast Deep Background. There is an emphasis on authority and morality in the historical, scientific, legal, and cultural contexts explored in Deep Background. Some of the people he has spoken with are Malcolm Gladwell, Laurie R. Santos, and Marc Lipsitch. His column has appeared in Bloomberg Opinion regularly since 2012. He frequently writes for The New York Review of Books on judicial and constitutional law issues.
