Madagascar – The Musical is based on the popular DreamWorks animated film. It follows your favorite crack-a-lackin' buddies as they flee their home in New York's Central Park Zoo. They then embark on an unexpected journey to King Julien's Madagascar.
The king of the urban jungle, Alex, the lion, is the major attraction at New York's Central Park Zoo. His closest friends, Marty the zebra, Melman the giraffe, and Gloria the hippo, have lived in luxurious captivity in front of adoring crowds, with regular food given. Marty, not content to leave well enough alone, let his curiosity get the best of him and flees to explore the world with the help of some prolific penguins.
Selladoor Family, the producers of James And The Giant Peach, Seussical, The Owl And The Pussycat, and Hartshorn–Hook, the producers of the Olivier Award-winning Rotterdam, Murder Ballad, Urinetown, and American Idiot, bring this zany journey for the whole family to life. Kirk Jameson is the director of Madagascar – The Musical, and Fabian Aloise is the choreographer. Tom Rogers designed the show, featuring Howard Hudson's lighting design, Chris Whybrow's sound design, Mark Crossland's musical supervision, Max Humphries' puppet design, and Emma Brunton's puppet direction.
