Gibney Company Information
A multi-faceted dance group with two New York City sites, Gibney Dance, was formed in 1991 by choreographer Gina Gibney and is located at 890 Broadway in the Flatiron District and 280 Broadway in Tribeca. Center, Company, and Community are the three interconnected domains subdivided into which the organization's operations.
Center is the first of these terms, and it describes the building and its programming—which includes dance workshops, events, and services for the New York City area as well as rehearsal space for both nonprofit and commercial clients. Founded in 1991 and now run by Gina Gibney and Amy Miller, the Gibney Dance Company is a prestigious contemporary dance company.
Eight full-length works written in the last decade are part of the company's repertory and have been presented worldwide. Lighting designer Kathy Kaufmann, costume designers Naoko Nagata and David C. Woolard, visualist Joshue Ott, and composer Ryan Lott (Son Lux) are just a few of the artists who have worked with Gibney in her choreography.
