Alfredo Rodriguez Information
Alfredo Rodriguez Salicio (October 7, 1985) is a Cuban jazz pianist and composer who studied classical piano at the Manuel Saumell Conservatory. For advanced learning, he went to Amadeo Roldan Music Conservatory as well as the Instituto Superior de Arte, all of which are in Havana. His interest in jazz was raised by the annual “JoJazz” competition for young jazz musicians. Rodriguez was selected as one of the twelve pianists from all around the world, which allowed him to perform at the Montreux Jazz Festival. Music Producer Quincy Jones took notice of him at the Jazz Festival and offered to work together.
Rodriguez formed his first trio in 2007, which included Michael Olivera (drums) and Gaston Joya (double bass). He has performed at several festivals throughout his career such as Playboy Jazz Festival, SXSWMusic Festival, Detroit Jazz Festival, Monterey Jazz Festival, New Port Jazz Festival, Gilmore International Keyboard Festival, Jazz Roots Performing Arts Center, San Francisco Jazz Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival, Shanghai International Film Festival, Shanghai Tourist Festival, Shanghai International Film Festival, Umbria Jazz Festival, and Shanghai Tourist Festival.
Rodriguez has also shared his stage with notable artists including Patti Austin, McCoy Tyner, Richard Bona, Lionel Loueke, James Ingram, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, and Esperanza Spalding. He has been chosen by various international brands such as Louis Vuitton and Mercedez Benz to perform at their corporate functions and product launches. Rodriguez has released a few notable studio albums such as Sounds of Space (2012), The Invasion Parade (2014), Tocororo (2016), The Little Dream (2018), and Duologue with Pedrito Martinez (2019).
