MLB All Star Sunday Information
The Major League Baseball All-Star Game is an annual exhibition game between the National League and the American League, with the opening lineup determined by fan ballot.
In a sense, this game represents the season's halfway point. There are additional events that take place as part of the event. The home run derby is conducted the day before the game, which is always on a Tuesday. The All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Tournament will take place on Sunday before the main event. For its debut, the game followed the usual softball format of seven games. A makeshift wall was erected 220 feet away from home plate in the center field for the contest. In 2007, the regulations were altered to allow every player on the field to have an equal opportunity to bat. The contest was also cut short, with only five innings played. In 2013, the game was shortened from nine to six innings, with the deciding factor being the home ball attempts of designated batters in the event of a tie.
